Most of the web applications we develop are
database-driven, in other words, the code we write
retrives information that is stored in a database. The database can be either SQL Server, MS Access2000 or Oracle8.
Designing database-driven web sites provides for dynamic as opposed to static Web pages.
On the other hand, static pages are made up of text, images and HTML programming tags. If you were to make changes to your web site, the process can be very time consuming
because the entire site has to be modified. Whereas dynamic pages do not contain as much text.
Instead, they pull the necessary information directly from the database.
One of the biggest advantages of database-driven Web applications is that they retrieve live data, which means changes are effective
immediately. When changes are made, the Web pages do not have to be reconstructed again.
